Born on 26 September 1990 into a respectable, middle-class family in Jabalpur, Sagar Azad received his early education at St. Gabriel Senior Secondary School. Despite the many challenges of his childhood, he always recognised a deep entrepreneurial spirit within himself.
In 2011, Sagar moved to Kota with dreams of continuing his education. Facing financial difficulties, he worked as a salesman before finding a position at Crossword Books, Kota. It was here — at just 21 — that he discovered his true calling: connecting people with books and building a literary ecosystem that India deserved.
At 26, he resigned from his only job to found Champ Readers, an association dedicated to promoting emerging Indian writers. He organised record-breaking book launch events in Kota — drawing crowds of ~2,500 students per event — a milestone that has never been surpassed anywhere in the country.
In January 2021, Sagar established Anecdote Publishing House, now publishing and promoting authors across India and internationally. His journey was celebrated by Entrepreneurs Today as one of their prestigious 35 Under 35 achievers.
